Who publishes these rankings
StudRank publishes sale-performance rankings for South African stud cattle breeders. Every figure on the site comes from an auction that has already been held and reported — we do not score genetics, judge animals, or estimate what a stud is worth. What we do is put published results side by side, per season, in seven separate categories.
The operator
StudRank is operated by Fyvie Enterprises (Pty) Ltd, registration 2021/451594/07, of Tregenna Farm, Bergville, 3350. Editorial responsibility for what is published rests with Bradley Fyvie. We are not a breed society, an auctioneer, or an agent for any stud listed on this site, and we take no commission on any sale.
Where the figures come from
Prices are compiled from breed society result sheets and published auctioneer catalogues. Dam inter-calving periods and calving counts come from society herd records, read as they stood on the date of the sale. Animal production figures — birth weight, 205-day weight, cow/calf % wean — come from each animal’s own society record at that same date. The full source list, and what each source feeds, is set out on the methodology page.
Corrections
Any breeder can query any published figure from their stud page or directly from a ranking row. Tell us which figure looks wrong and what it should be. We reconcile every query against the breed society record and the selling agent’s result sheet. Where a figure is wrong it is restated, and the change is logged on the stud’s page so the correction is visible rather than silent. We aim to respond within seven days.
Withholding a stud name
A breeder may ask for their stud to be hidden. The name is replaced with “Name Hidden” and every supporting figure is suppressed with it — prices, lots sold, breed, province, photos and lot detail — because a sale price on its own can be traced back to a stud through a catalogue. The stud keeps its place in the rankings, so the field size and every other stud’s position stay honest. Requests are made through the Hide or query button on any ranking row or stud page, and are verified against society records before they are made permanent.
Photographs and video
Photographs and sale videos are supplied by breeders. By adding a photograph you confirm you have the right to publish it. Photographs are reviewed before they appear. To have an image removed, contact us at bradfyvie@gmail.com.

Price is a measure of what buyers paid, not of genetic merit or of the value a bull will return in a commercial herd. Dam ICP and calves per dam describe the female herd behind the catalogue, not the animals sold.
